Teasel and Twigs:
ʼTis a Critter Christmas Tale
by Paige DD Singer and Robert Dionne
Teasel & Twigs: ’Tis a Critter Christmas Tale is a warmly written and lavishly illustrated story inspired by the Critters that adorn the Brandyine River Museum each Christmas season. For many years volunteers have hand-made tiny animal “Critters” solely from materials gathered from the Conservancy properties for sale in the museum shop. This is the story of three of these Critters and their one night’s quest.
On the evening before a scheduled children’s Christmas party Roger, a reindeer, finds that he has lost his nose. With his friends, Teasel and Twigs, they embark on a mission throughout the museum to help him find it. Their journey takes them past many familiar sights on all levels of the building where they engage several other Critters who try to help but are unsuccessful in finding a nose until Twigs finds a solution for his friend.
Teasel and Twigs was written by Paige DD Singer, a Chadds Ford native, whose roots to the museum go back to her grandmother—a long-time museum volunteer who made thousands of Critters. It was illustrated by Robert Dionne, a West Chester artist known for his inspired work featuring Chester County history.
