For almost 100 years naval personnel were stationed on Cape Henlopen serving their country in war and peace. They were supported by the city and people of Lewes, Delaware who welcomed them as good neighbors. This book; A Century of Service: The U.S. Navy on Cape Henlopen 1898-1996 documents that little known association of the Navy with Cape Henlopen and Lewes, Delaware. It reviews and illustrates each naval installation that was on the cape and describes their operations and technology. It tells the story of the life and work of the officers and sailors who served there and the people of the city of Lewes who supported them.
