Bob Kotowski
Bob Kotowski is a retired journalist with nearly 30 years experience as a newspaper and radio reporter and editor. He retired in 2001 from KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia after nearly 22 years as an editor, reporter and webmaster. He started his news career with the Weekly Post in Newark DE in 1972, moved to The Reporter in Lansdale PA and then to the Morning Call in Allentown PA before joining the KYW Newsradio staff. During his career, he also was a part-time instructor in Temple University’s School of Journalism for five years.
He has received more than a dozen awards from the Associated Press, Society of Professional Journalists, Philadelphia Press Association, United Press International and the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and the Overseas Press Club of America’s 1983 Lowell Thomas Award.
Bob was born in Wilmington DE and was raised in the New Castle and Newark areas. He graduated from Newark Senior High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Navy from then until 1971. His duty assignments included service with a Marine company in Vietnam in 1966-67.
He has a BA in Liberal Arts – Humanities from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton NJ, which he earned in 1988. He also attended a University of Maryland extension campus in Japan, the University of Delaware and Gwynedd-Mercy College in Gwynedd PA.
The New Castle County native and his wife Paula moved to the Lewes/Rehoboth area full-time in 2001 after four years as part-time residents. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren.
In 2005, Bob wrote An Interpretive History of Ebenezer M.E. Church Near Lewes, Delaware. Copies are at the Lewes Historical Society, Lewes Public Library, Delaware Public Archives, Historical Society of Delaware and Barratt’s Chapel Archives.
Bob is a member of the Lewes Historical Society.
