Marcia Rae Wheeler
Marcia Rae Wheeler was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. She and her family moved to Delaware during her early school days. She met and married her husband, C. Richard Wheeler, from the colonial town of Odessa, where they have lived for 57 years.
After high school, Ms. Wheeler obtained a Stenographic Certificate from Goldey Beacom College. While working and raising four children, she also obtained a Paralegal Certificate from Widener University.
Ms. Wheeler has held many secretarial jobs: ten years with the Du Pont Company, eight years within the Delaware State government—beginning as secretary to the attorneys for the House of Representatives—then as a secretary on the Governor’s staff before going on to work for the Senate attorneys. She was a legal secretary for the law firm of Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell in Wilmington, Delaware until retirement.
At the age of 65, Ms. Wheeler enrolled in the University of Delaware, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. That Old Bat Church is her first attempt at using the skills provided from this education.
